My first 9 things in Doha
Staying in Doha for almost 9 months now is exciting and colorful. I have enumerated the first 9 things I have experienced in Doha, have a fun time reading.
1. We had our first lunch in Ponde Rosa right after our arrival 9 months ago. Whew, the weather was terribly hot then, but the lunch we had was a good one. 2. While having our lunch, we took our first picture. If anyone has a copy of the pic, feel free to post here as Jo’s laptop got crashed sometime ago so all our pictures saved in his laptop were khalas, deleted. 3. After a month of training and some little work in the office, we received our first pay cheque. I can still remember, we have it photocopied thru the kindness of Rofelyn in Royal Wings Hotel before rushing to the bank to have it encashed before the bank gets closed at 1pm. 4. We became an official OFW when we send our first remittance to our loved ones back home. We rushed to Habib in Souq to send the first remittance and tour the Souq area surrounded by people mostly from nearby countries. 5. During the Ramadan, we were invited by the kababayans in the office to spend the holiday with them in the Sea Line Beach Resort, the first swimming we had here in Doha. The resort is very nice with foreigners and locals having their sun-bathing in their sexy bathing suits and trunks. We tried the beach but the water was too salty so, we opted to take a dip in the pool instead. The food was great also and it was one of the most unforgettable experiences I will truly remember. 6. We had our first Christmas away from home. We celebrated our office Christmas party in the club house near the house of one of the partners in the office. We have celebrated the season by going to the church to attend the mass, had some exchange gifts, sumptuous dinner and a good night sleep. 7. Of course, after the Christmas, New Year’s day will follow. We celebrated our first New Year in Doha without fireworks. The good side of this is that, no one got hurt and we had some good food, wine, card games and good time videoke singing with sis Claud. 8. After months of follow-up, at long last, we had our internet connection at home. Since my housemates got already their own laptops, and also because of the internet connection, I decided to buy my own first laptop. It is not one of the most expensive laptops, but the features are good and comparable to the high-priced one. Thanks to technology and I can now chat with my siblings who are situated on the other part of the globe without hassle. 9. On our ninth month, I had my first summer haircut with my housemates. I thought Erwin was joking when he asked me to have a skinhead haircut so I give my word to do it after him. He was really serious and I have no other options but to make good of my statements. So, I did it again (the skinhead haircut) but this time, this is my first bald cut (kalbo) to do in Doha. If you have something to add on these first 9 things in Doha, feel free to comment. See all three of us in our baldness glory hehehe.
